Take Part in Research on Interpreters' Experiences in Children and Young People's Mental Health Services

I am conducting research into interpreter’s perspectives on interpreter-mediated work in NHS young people’s mental health services. There is limited research in this area, and it is important to hear your voices about this. We are particularly interested in understanding what challenges interpreters face in these services, what factors facilitate positive or successful experiences in interpreting in children and young people’s mental health services, and interpreter’s recommendations for improving interpreter-mediated work in these services. The researcher hopes that this research could help inform clinician and service guidelines for working with interpreters and improve interpreter-mediated work in these services.

 

Who can take part? 

To address the study aims, I am inviting language interpreters to take part. If you have had any experience working professionally as an interpreter in a children and young people’s NHS mental health service (service supporting individuals age 5-18), you are eligible to take part in the study. This can include paid experience interpreting for a child/young person and/or families/parents in these settings.

 

Involvement 

Suitable candidates will participate in one-to-one interviews over Zoom lasting roughly 45 minutes to an hour, which will be recorded for research purposes only. Confidentiality is ensured and all personal data will be anonymised.

 

Compensation 

You will be compensated for your time by being entered into a raffle to receive one of 4 possible £20 vouchers for One4All which can be used at various shops.
